Big Ten releases Rutgers men's lacrosse schedule
On Thursday, the Big Ten released the first half of the spring 2021 schedule with the Rutgers men’s lacrosse team's first five opponents for the upcoming season. The first five games, three of which are on the road and two at SHI Stadium, will take place between Feb. 20 and March 20.
The No. 18 Scarlet Knights begin the season hosting Penn State on Feb. 20, seeing action for the first time since last March when the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) abruptly ended the team's 2020 campaign early, after starting that year 2-4.
After their home opener, the Knights will head to Columbus to play their first game on the road at Ohio State. Rutgers will then come back home to finish the three-game period in its third-straight, in-conference contest.
On March 6, the Knights will play their second game of the season at home, facing off against Michigan, which will be coming off of several matchups itself. The last time Rutgers took on the Wolverines was back in 2019 when the Knights defeated Michigan 11-9.
Then, to round out the five-game span, Rutgers will go to Maryland to face the Terrapins on March 13 and Johns Hopkins on March 20, ending the first half of the released spring schedule. Game times and television schedules will be released at a later date, along with the second half of the schedule being released at some point during the season.
