The New Brunswick Police Department (NBPD) is currently investigating an aggravated assault and a robbery that reportedly occurred at approximately 1:24 a.m. yesterday on Courtlandt Street between Delafield and Guilden Streets, according to a University-wide email.

In this incident, the victim, who is unaffiliated with the University, said that he was retrieving a food delivery near a private residence while attending a party when two male perpetrators approached him.

This further resulted in a physical altercation, after which the victim sought medical treatment for a non-life threatening injury at a local hospital, according to the email. He was released shortly afterward.

Around the same time, two male perpetrators with a firearm reportedly approached the delivery driver, who is also unaffiliated with the University, and stole the delivery order while demanding that the driver leave the area.

The driver was not physically injured and said that the perpetrators then fled down Courtlandt Street toward Easton Avenue, according to the email.

This alert comes after officials notified students earlier this week that the NBPD is investigating a report of shots fired that occurred Monday morning on Guilden Street.

Anyone who may have been around the area at the time of the incident or who may have relevant information should contact the NBPD.

The Rutgers University Police Department reminded students to report suspicious activity, walk in groups when traveling during late hours and stay aware of their surroundings, according to the email. Escorts are also available to members of the Rutgers community upon request.

Editor's Note: A previous version of this article stated a report of shots fired on Guilden Street took place Monday evening.
