The Rutgers University Police Department (RUPD) is investigating a burglary that occurred last Friday at approximately 10:30 a.m. in the Clinical Academic Building near the College Avenue campus, according to a University-wide email.

In the incident, a male perpetrator entered the building during business hours and took an item of value from an unoccupied office.

The same perpetrator was seen leaving the Ruth Adams Building on Douglass campus on Feb. 8, during the same time frame in which another theft occurred at approximately 12:30 p.m., according to the email.

This incident comes after another burglary was recently committed in a residence on Nichol Avenue near Douglass campus on Feb. 5, as previously reported by The Daily Targum. The perpetrator in this incident was arrested by the RUPD last Friday.

Police patrolling has increased in the area of the burglary, and the RUPD requested that any individual with information that can aid in the investigation should contact its Detective Bureau.

If students observe this perpetrator on campus, they should not approach him, and instead should contact RUPD Communications or 911 if it is an emergency, according to the email.

Additionally, the RUPD advised students to take safety measures such as securing entrances to buildings when not in use, not leaving valuables unattended and staying alert to surroundings.
