The Rutgers University Police Department (RUPD) has arrested the perpetrator of a burglary that took place at the Douglass University Post Office at 57 Lipman Drive at approximately 12:30 a.m. yesterday, according to a University-wide email alert.

The RUPD arrested Jahmier Willard, a 28-year-old male from New Brunswick, at 8:30 p.m. yesterday and charged him with theft, burglar's tools, criminal mischief and criminal trespass.

The RUPD reminded students to take reasonable safety precautions, such as securing entry points to buildings and workspaces, leaving exterior doors closed and staying alert to people and surroundings.

The RUPD also said that students should not leave unattended or unsecured valuables in offices, residence halls or workspaces and any suspicious activity should be reported to the police.
