The New Brunswick Police Department (NBPD) is currently investigating a robbery that reportedly took place yesterday at approximately 2:30 AM, according to a University-wide email alert.

The victim, who is unaffiliated with the University, reported that he was standing near the intersection of Easton Avenue and Prosper Street in New Brunswick when he was approached by three male individuals.

The perpetrators struck him multiple times and then removed valuable personal items, after which they fled on foot, according to the email. Any descriptions of the perpetrators are currently limited.

During the incident, the victim received injuries that were not life-threatening and declined medical attention.

The NBPD requests that anyone who may have been nearby at the time of the incident or anyone who has relevant information should contact the department's detective bureau.

The Rutgers University Police Department (RUPD) asked that students stay alert to their surroundings, avoid isolated areas and report suspicious activity immediately, according to the email.

The RUPD also reminded the community that escorts to personal vehicles, campus residences or bus stops are provided upon request.
