RUPD investigates sexual assault at College Avenue Student Center

The Rutgers University Police Department (RUPD) is investigating a criminal sexual assault that occurred yesterday at approximately 5:15 p.m. in the Rutgers Student Center on the College Avenue campus, according to a University-wide email alert.
In this situation, the University-affiliated victim reported that she was at the Student Center when she was approached by the perpetrator, who then started a conversation.
The victim reported that the perpetrator dropped an item in her lap during the conversation and then touched her inappropriately when retrieving it, according to the alert. The victim was not injured.
The description of the perpetrator is an approximately 6-foot-tall Black male who was wearing dark clothing, a blue vest, a black baseball cap and sunglasses. He is estimated to be in his late 20s or early 30s and weighs approximately 180 pounds.
The RUPD requests that anyone who may have been around at the time of the incident or who has information contact the department's detective bureau.
In addition, the RUPD reminded students to report suspicious activity and individuals immediately and stay alert and attuned to their surroundings.
